Attention  .  .  .  on December 1, 2015  new bankruptcy forms go into effect.  The changes are extensive but no worries - our bankruptcy software automatically updates all changes in bankruptcy law including the forms.

Our To Do List.

We need the following info to properly prepare your chapter 7 or chapter 13 bankruptcy.  If you do not have everything when you initially meet with us don't worry about it because you can always email it to us.

Pre-filing counseling certificate.
We need the certificate as it is actually a part of your chapter 7 or chapter 13 bankruptcy documents and must be filed with the court.

A monthly billing statement from each creditor if you have any.
It must have the payment address listed on it.

Your free credit report www.annualcreditreport.com
This is the website the Federal Trade Commission set up for you to obtain your free credit report from all 3 reporting agencies once a year.  Transunion is the most comprehensive report.  We can do this in our office if you don't have internet access, a printer, or if you're more comfortable having us do this.  Please don't give us any merged credit reports because they're garbage reports.

Creditor correspondence.
Got letters from collection agencies or lawyers?  We need them so they can be properly listed in your bankruptcy so you can get your life back.

Paystubs.
We need every paystub you have been issued for the past 6 months, beginning with the month PRIOR to seeing us.  This is for the Means Test which qualifies you to file bankruptcy.  If you don't have them please ask payroll give you a printout that lists all paystub details (gross pay, all deductions, and net pay).

All lawsuits within the last year.
If you are suing someone or someone is suing you we need a copy of the documents so it can be properly listed in the Statement of Financial Affairs.

Gross annual income.
We need your year to date gross income & your gross income for the prior 2 years sp it can be listed in the Statement of Financial Affairs.

Non-filing spouse paystubs.
If you are married and your spouse elects not to file bankruptcy with you, we still need the same payroll info from your spouse as need from you because it is required by the court.

Vehicle appraisal.
If your vehicle needs to be appraised because you exceeded the allowances set forth by the court then it must be appraised by a licensed certified appraiser.

The best appraiser we know is Skip Bonnell.  He's a great guy, he comes to you, and his phone number is 813-493-1380.  Skip will also email us your written appraisal so you don't have to worry about it getting lost in the mail.

Timeshare.
If you own a timeshare then it must be properly listed in your bankruptcy.  We will need the payment information, the HOA fees info (all timeshares have HOA's), and real estate taxes you might owe.

401k/IRA
Retirement accounts such as 401k's and IRA's are assets that must be properly listed in your bankruptcy.  They can't be touched by the bankruptcy court so your monies are safe BUT we need the account information such as account number, balance, and the name of the financial institution.
